Kanye West once stood at the peak of the music industry, on track to go down in history. For generations to come, people would have known him as a musical prodigy. In just three years, though, West has exiled himself to the fringe as he plummets deeper into extremist rhetoric.
Now, Kanye is a name still uttered, but in an unflattering regard.
“Vile, Hitler-loving, Nazi-slathering, anti-semitic prick” -Piers Morgan
“Deranged bigot” -David Schwimmer
“F**k this monster forever” -Isla Fisher
“Kanye a little b*tch.” -Jack Antonoff
The once iconic Grammy Award-winning rapper began publicly harassing the Jewish community in 2022 on X to his 33.3 million followers, over twice as many people as Jews in the world.
Rather than de-escalate, West doubled down on his antisemitic behavior shortly after.
“I’m a Nazi … I love Hitler,” West manically posted on X in February.
His hour-long rants and erratic behavior had their full circle moment with today’s new song release of “Heil Hitler.” West has weaponized his hate into his music platform, corrupting a place where he once inspired.
West isn’t just flirting with fascism– he’s courting, feeding and fueling it.
He torched every last bridge he had with decency with his new song that features a sample from a 1935 Adolf Hitler speech.
This is not a misunderstood genius or another public breakdown. This is a grown man–a father– platforming an ancient evil. After years of incidents and chaos, West has lost any possible benefit of the doubt. There is no separation between the art and artist anymore.
The collective hesitation of accountability from collaborators and platformed voices has enabled West to continue his spiral of crudity.
But this isn’t just about Kanye. This is about how far celebrities can go, and how little anyone will say. This is a tragedy we see time and time again: the downfall that occurs when fame, ego and dangerous ideology collide.
In 2025, a song called “Heil Hitler” by one of the biggest names in the business should not be a reality, but a cautionary tale of what happens when influence divorces ethics.
