Sept. 1989
This September 1989 brief summarizes the university’s religious absence policy with regards to exams.

Campus Jewish students are reminded of the University policy governing absences and the administration of examinations and tests on religious holidays.

Under University policy, students are excused from absences which result from religious observances. Instructors must provide without penalty for the rescheduling of examinations and other written tests that fall on religious holidays. No examination or other written test may be scheduled for Rosh Hashana or Yom Kippur.

While Rosh Hashana and Succot will be observed on weekends this year, Yom Kippur will be observed Monday, October 9.

Any Jewish student with a question or concern about this policy should contact the Hillel Jewish Student Center at 422-6200.
